Day Watch 2007

A horror tale set in contemporary Moscow that revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness--the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. This ancient war between the forces of Light and Darkness is reaching a tragic outcome. Each side has gained a powerful Great Other, who are headed for a clash, and Anton Gorodetsky is once again caught up in the midst of things. On one side is Anton’s son, Yegor, who has joined the ranks of the 'Dark Others', while Anton's love interest Svetlana is the hope of the 'Light'. But that's just the beginning of his troubles: Anton is on the run after having been accused of murder. Things are getting worse, and only the ancient 'Chalk of Fate' can save the day. The problem is the magical Chalk was lost hundreds of years ago.

Anthony Wong is a rich sex-deprived man who meets a Monk, who offers him an erotic dream. He becomes addicted to the dream and falls in love with the beautiful female student in it. Unfortunately, the dream is part of the Monk's conspiracy to obtain or destroy all that matters to him. Once Wong finally finishes his dream, things start going horribly badly. For example, his dog loses its head and his mother gets mutilated and stuffed into a box while he was asleep. The dream maker has gained control of Wong through his dreams and his desires and is out to take everything from him.
In an attempt to seek revenge, his brother returns from Malaysia and joins forces with the Monk's wife (Pinky Cheung), who has grown tired of the ritual abuse delivered by her sadistic husband.
This movie is not your ordinary HK horror film and features some interesting camera work–as Anthony Wong walks into a doctors office and the camera pans over to the nurse behind the counter performing fellatio on someone. The camera then ducks down and goes around the desk to shoot up the nurse's skirt.
Some great performances are featured in this film, especially by Pinky Cheung the Monk's battered wife. She does a terrific job of pulling you into this bizarre blood soaked supernatural tale and makes it thoroughly entertaining.

Kehidupan seharian Ayie lebih kepada melepak dengan rakan-rakannya lebih-lebih lagi dengan 2 rakan baiknya iaitu Loyai rakan kolejnya dan Amran makanik kereta. Mereka sering bersama dan tempat favourite mereka ialah di Warung Uncle Wan dimana aktiviti-aktiviti mereka bermula.

Dalam kelekaan Ayie dengan dunia remajanya, dia sering ditegur oleh Abangnya (Johari) yang telah menjaganya semenjak ibubapa mereka meninggal dunia. Joharilah yang menyara segala perbelanjaan Ayie sebab dia ingin melihat adiknya berjaya dan mendapat pendidikan yang secukupnya.

Apabila semester baru kolej bermula Ayie yang juga begitu terkenal di kalangan pelajar-pelajar kolej tersebut telah terserempak dengan seorang freshie (Eva Liana) yang begitu lawa dan telah menarik perhatiannya. Apabila kosentrasi Ayie lebih kepada Eva, Ayie sudah mula kurang untuk berlumba dan melepak dengan rakan-rakan.

Amran mekanik Ayie merupakan seorang Mat Rempit. Berlaku satu insiden apabila Amran kalah pertaruhan dengan Mat Rempit lain di dalam lumba haram mereka. Ianya telah memaksa Amran meminjam duit Ah Long sebanyak RM 5,000.00 untuk melangsaikan taruhan tersebut. Segala aktiviti Amran tidak di ketahui Loyai dan Ayie.

Suatu hari Loyai di datangi Ray, seorang pusher dan terkenal dengan aktiviti haramnya. Ray ingin mencabar Ayie dalam satu lumba Drag. Ayie menolak sebaliknya Amran merasakan yang ianya satu peluang untuk beliau mendapat duit RM 5,000.00 bagi membayar Ah Long. Tanpa pengtahuan Loyai, Amran telah bertemu dengan Ray untuk menerima pelawaan tersebut dengan mempertaruhkan wang sebanyak RM 5,000.00.

Pada hari yang dijadualkan, maka berlansunglah perlumbaan antara Amran dengan Ray. Dalam perlumbaan tersebut ternyata Ray terlalu handal untuk Amran dan telah memenangi perlumbaan tersebut. Amran yang begitu panik setelah kalah telah melarikan diri dari Ray Amran begitu menyesal dengan tindakan bodohnya telah menyembunyikan diri dari Ray sebab dia tak ada duit nak membayarnya.

Berita kekalahan Amran telah di ketahui Loyai. Loyai kemudiannya mendapatkan Ayie untuk sama-sama mencari Amran kerana mereka tahu yang Amran mesti di dalam bahaya. Akhirnya Ayie menjumpai Amran yang bersembunyi di bengkel. Mereka berbincang cara untuk menolong Amran dan mereka bercadang untuk meminta pertolongan dari Johari. Dalam pada mereka berbincang Ray tiba di situ untuk memukul Amran dan Amran yang panik melihat Ray telah memandu lari dengan keretanya. Ray bertambah geram dan telah mengejar Amran. Ayie juga turut serta mengejar Amran dan Ray.

Berlakulah adegan kejar-mengejar antara mereka bertiga. Amran bertambah panik dan memecut lagi laju sehinggalah dia hilang kawalan pada kereta tersebut dan terbabas di tepi jalan. Kereta Amran terbalik dan Amran pula tersepit. Ayie yang melihat akan kejadian tersebut terus memberhentikan keretanya dan cuba menyelamatkan Amran. Malangnya Amran tidak dapat diselamatkan sebab berlaku hentakan yang kuat pada kepalanya. Ayie pula telah di tahan atas tuduhan memandu dengan bahaya di jalanraya.

Kejadian yang menimpa ke atas Ayie dan Amran betul-betul mengecewakan Johari. Johari mencari jalan untuk menyelamatkan adiknya dari lokap. Hanya dengan mengumpan Ray untuk turun berlumba merupakan peluang yang terbaik.

Mampukah Johari mengajak Ray berlumba dengannya dan menyelamatkan adiknya? Semuanya akan terjawab dalam Impak Maksima.

[Sinopsis]

Kini Dani pula menghilangkan diri setelah rasa dikhianati dan diperbodohkan oleh Kid, malah Ariyana sendiri.

Atas tekanan dan godaan Suzi, Kid terpaksa juga membantu Suzi melarikan diri. Namun tidak semudah itu. Abang Kecik (EMAN MANAN), orang paling kanan Big Daddy mula menjejaki mereka. Keadaan semakin genting apabila tindakan-tindakan mereka menjadi haru biru dan di luar kawalan. Konflik kemanusiaan dalam perhubungan, persahabatan, percintaan, pengaruh dadah dan perempuan simpanan, dipaparkan menerusi isu-isu so, gaya hidup, skandal serta gangsterism. Randeep Hooda may not be having a superstar father to shower ‘excessive’ praise on his performance. But if his deliriously heartwarming portrayal of an encounter specialist in Vishram Sawant’s ‘Risk’ is anything to go by, then this hunky dude is the most hard-hitting news of year 2007. So far. In an author backed role, he impresses not only with his stone faced determination, grip on Marathi lingo and sedate body language but also with a vulnerable humane side (especially when the news of his mother’s heart attack filters to him before an encounter). At many an occasion, the resemblance (both physical as well as contextual) with sullied encounter specialist Daya Nayak is hard to be missed as well. Same can be said about ‘Risk’. Shouldn’t be missed!

Suryakant Satam (Randeep) is a don’t-mess-with-me kinda cop who is well known for his trigger-happy-ways. Bangkok based underworld don Khalid (Vinod Khanna) isn’t happy with his ‘daring’. For, inadvertently by killing his shooters, Satam is helping politician Sarang (Anant Jog) and his prime adversary (and once-upon-a-time ally) Naidu (Zakir Hussain). But when Suryakant stretches his tentacles till Devki Vardhan (Seema Biswas), Khalid’s prime conduit in Mumbai, all hell breaks lose. Finding himself behind bars, the hard cop doesn’t have any option other than smearing his hands with the same dirt that he always sniggered at arrogantly. How he takes the ‘risks’ in salvaging his lost pride is what the story is all about.

There are several junctures when the similarities with ‘Ab Tak Chappan’ and even ‘Shiva’ (the latest version) are hard to be ignored. But the near flawless treatment meted out by Vishram Sawant makes it different from any of the other encounter cop stories one has seen. The film remains glued to the context of an encounter specialist’s ordeals, trials and tribulations. Scintillating camera work of Mahesh Muthuswamy and strict editing of Vivek Shah prove to be big assets for Sawant’s vision of creating a murky ruthless world that is always scheming. And falling apart. The only aberration is Tanushree Datta’s ‘Hitchki’ which is the only occasion when the director seems to have compromised on his vision. In fact Datta doesn’t have anything to do in the film except pouting and preening.

Vishram Sawant is definitely hot on the heels of Ram Gopal Verma brand of film making (especially films like ‘Satya’ and ‘Company’) as far as narrating a story in almost a journalistic story fashion. All the players are clearly defined and they have a specific role to play. Even the proverbial villain is shown to be humane and giving. Khalid cares for his mentally unstable son like a mother would (he even applies oil in his hair). Tears trickling out while offering Namaz on hearing his brother’s death….Khanna moves with his terrific performance. In fact it is a worthy comeback role for a star of his stature. The scenes where he psyches Hooda with mind games are especially intriguing.

In the support cast Zakir Hussain as Naidu is first rate while Anant Jog as the dirty politician is impressive too. Seema Biswas doesn’t have much to do. And that’s a pity considering her immense potential. Background score by Sandesh Shandilya successfully creates the dark edges in its cymbals and keyboards.

‘Risk’ is a commendable film. For it dares to call the spade a spade. Why and how the system is corrupted? Why little is done to change the functioning of the police force? Why honesty is getting confusingly redundant?

If reality is your brand of cinema, then just don’t miss ‘Risk’. Yes, the frequent gun-pushing can be a deterrent at times. But at least you know that you are watching cinema that dares to take ‘risks’ in trying to break the tried-n-tested. Moreover, the power house performances of Hooda and Khanna are paisa wasool. Anyday.
